What a lovely weekend we’ve just had – did you manage to get out for an autumnal walk? Our children went out for a walk on Friday to have a look at all the changes happening at this time of year. We saw different coloured leaves, picked lots of apples, found some beechnuts and thistles and then sang autumn songs in the shelter.

We had some interesting chats last week about bones and the skeleton. Some children were really fascinated with the names of bones and where they are in the body – perhaps we have doctors and nurses in the making. We have had so much fun with role play in the hospital – there were some interesting injuries and remedies!! Has your child been talking to you at home about what they have learnt? Did you learn the skeleton song?

It was great to see photographs of family members last week, thank you to everyone who sent them in. It was a lovely opportunity for children to ‘show and tell’ at carpet time; they proudly stood at the front of the class and talked about their family and when and where the pictures were taken.

It’s a bit of a wet start to another great week at Greenacre. All of our new children are settling in nicely and the children who have been with us some time are stepping up and helping the newer ones. Friendships are starting to build and it’s wonderful to see children already progressing. Our target at the moment is to remember our please and thank you’s and we already have lots of stars on our ‘Reason to Celebrate’ board, please continue to encourage your children at home.

This time last year we were enjoying long sunny days, not wet and windy ones like this weekend! Summer is definitely over and Autumn is on its way. But then there are only 13 Monday’s left until Christmas…..

We love hearing your child’s news any photographs to go with it would be appreciated too. It’s our last week at Pre-School before the summer holiday. We will be getting the tissues out as we say a sad farewell to our little ones who are moving onto the next stage of their educational career. We are so proud of the achievements our children have made during their short time with us. They have developed so many skills, sharing, building relationships, talking confidently, mark making, having fun… so in the words of Nanny McPhee, our job is done!

It’s only two weeks now until we break up for the summer holidays. It will be a sad time for us as we will be saying cheerio to our children who are moving onto ‘big’ school. We have been busy meeting their new teachers and writing reports, but we hope their last days with us will be filled with fun. Next week we are having our teddy bears picnic, watch out for our newsletter giving you the information that you need.
