We had a great start last week to our @People who help us’ theme. ‘Motorway Martin’ came on Monday with his Police car and Spencer the guide dog brought Kevin in to talk about dogs for the blind. We have more visits planned this week and we have some teachers coming in from other schools to see the children who are moving on in September.

For the next two weeks we are finding out about ‘People who help us’ the home corner has been changed to the ‘Greenacre Hospital’ and we have a few people visiting us to talk about their jobs. We still have a few spaces, so if you work in an industry which helps people and have half an hour to spare would you like to come in and talk to our children? Just speak with a member of staff and let them know.

Welcome back to Pre-School everyone. We hope you have had a great week off, we can’t wait to hear what you have all been up to. Did you go away? We’re talking about transport this week, have you travelled on anything unusual? We would love it if you any photographs for your child to show at news time.

What a difference a week makes – our butterflies eventually broke out of their cocoons and were released into the big wide world on Friday. They were a bit hesitant at first, but they eventually flew off into the sun. The children loved watching them fly away and some were even lucky enough for the butterflies to land on them!

Thank you to everyone who came into Pre-School last week wearing the colour of the day. It was good to talk about the different colours and shades. This week is healthy eating week, so we will be talking about foods which are healthy and those which we shouldn’t eat too much of. Also, this week we will be planting cress seeds - each child will have their own little pot so please help them to look after it when they bring it home.

This week is our colour week. Each day we will be focusing on a different colour. If you want to join in, we would love the children to dress in the colour of the day. Tuesday is yellow, green on Wednesday, Thursday is blue, and Friday is red.

Our caterpillars are now fully fed and have made their way to the top of their tub. They have attached themselves and are busy building their cocoons. Once they are stable we will move them into the butterfly net to see what happens next. The children are really interested in their development and have been watching them grow.

This week we continue to look at bugs and creepy crawlies. If you go into your garden, why not have a look for the little creatures that live there. We are on the hunt in the Pre-School garden for little beasties – how many will we find?

In September we have an opening for a new member of our team. If you are interested why not call in to the Pre-School to find out more and pick up an application.

We hope you all have had a great break and are ready for the next six weeks until the half term. Although we have two weeks of four days to start off with! Then we are back a week and then another 4-day week. Don’t worry we will keep you up to date when we are in!
