Greenacre Pre-School News

It’s that sad time of year…

Posted by admin on July 18, 2018

It’s our last week at Pre-School before the summer holiday.  We have got the tissues out as we say a sad farewell to our little ones who are moving onto the next stage of their educational career.  We are so proud of the achievements our children have made during their short time with us.  They have developed so many skills, sharing, building relationships, talking confidently, mark making, having fun… so in the words of Nanny McPhee, our job is done!

Getting ready for school

Posted by admin on July 9, 2018

It’s only two weeks now until we break up for the summer holidays.  It will be a sad time for us as we will be saying cheerio to our children who are moving onto ‘big’ school.  We have been busy meeting their new teachers and writing reports, but we hope their last days with us will be filled with fun.  Next week we are having our teddy bears picnic, watch out for our newsletter giving you the information that you need.

We’re finding out about dinosaurs this week.  Does anyone have any fossils or anything else pre-historic related?  If so we would love to show the children – please speak with a member of our team.

Ship ahoy!

A big thank you to everyone who came to our Summer Fayre on Saturday - thankfully the weather was kind to us.  It was great to see so many families, new and old.  We rely on your support for our fund-raising events and we are pleased to say we raised over £500, which is fantastic.  We hope you and your family enjoyed meeting everyone and we know a lot of you went home with a bag full of prizes!  Thank you to those who donated prizes for our stalls and Grand Raffle and also to everyone who baked.

People who help us

Last week we had some fantastic visitors.  There was a doctor, a guide dog and a traffic policeman.  We also had visits from teachers from other schools to see the children who are moving on in September.  Busy, busy, busy.  We have more visits planned this week.

Can you help us?

Well last week was a very quiet week at Pre-School.  Lots of people were on holiday and we had quite a few cases of Chicken Pox.  So, if your child hasn’t had chicken pox yet check out the symptoms on www.nhs.co.uk/conditions/chickenpox so that you can watch out for them.

We're back!

Welcome back to Pre-School everyone.  We hope you have had a great week off, and made the most of the sunshine - we can’t wait to hear what you have all been up to.  Did you go away?  Do you have any photographs you would like to show at news time?

Here comes the Summer?

Last week we released our butterflies into the big wide world.  They were a bit hesitant at first but they eventually flew off into the sun.  The children loved watching them fly away and some were even lucky enough for the butterflies to land on them!

Healthy Eating

Posted by admin on May 14, 2018

Thank you to everyone who came into Pre-School last week wearing the colour of the day.  It was good to talk about the different colours and shades.  This week is healthy eating week, so we will be talking about foods which are healthy and those which we shouldn’t eat too much of.  Also this week we will be planting seeds - each child will have their own little pot so please help them to look after it when they bring it home.

Which colour are you?

Posted by admin on May 9, 2018

This week is our colour week.  Each day we will be focusing on a different colour.  The children have looked fantastic in their similar colours.  Tuesday was yellow, green on Wednesday and if you want to join in Thursday is blue and Friday is orange.
