Welcome back to the summer term

Posted by admin on April 16, 2018

Welcome back everyone.  We hope you all have had a great break and are ready for the next six weeks until the half term.  We have a lot to pack in this term, most excitingly is of course the confirmation of Primary School places and the start of your child’s next stage of their education.  When you have received your confirmation email, please inform your key person which school your child has received their place for so that we can start the transition documentation.

Happy Easter

How was your weekend?  What beautiful weather we had, the sun helped to give us the ‘feel good factor’.   Did you remember to put your clocks forward?

Travelling fast to Easter…

We break up for the Easter weekend next Thursday – how soon has that come around?  Hopefully the snow has gone for good and we will have warmer days to give us the opportunity to get out and about.

Well we spoke too soon last week – the snow took us all by surprise on Thursday.  Well done to those of you who managed to get into Pre-school.  We waited until 10am to make sure everyone could get to school safely.  Hopefully THAT WILL BE IT FOR SNOW!!!

Well what a week we’ve just had!  Ofsted on Monday and then a snow day on Thursday.  Hopefully that will be it for snow this winter and the Beast from the East has passed over.  Did you manage to get out with your children sledging?  Or did you make a Snowman?  If you have any pictures we would love to see them, perhaps your child could bring a photograph to show everyone and talk about their experience.

What’s your favourite book?

We have a busy week ahead, looking at different types of books and making up stories.  We are particularly celebrating British children’s writers including Julia Donaldson, Roald Dahl, Sue Hendra, Judith Kerr, Jill Murphy, AA Milne, Lauren Child, Rev.W.Awdry – to name but a few.  Do you have any of their books at home?  On Thursday it’s National Book day – have you decided which character to dress up as?  The ladies are busy thinking of what they will wear.

Happy Chinese New Year!  So how was your half term holiday?  We are back and refreshed and ready for the next six weeks until the Easter break. It’s the Year of the dog– those people who are born in this year (1946, 1958, 1970, 1982, 1994 and 2006) are said to possess the best traits of human nature. They are honest, friendly, faithful, loyal, smart, straightforward, respected and have a strong sense of responsibility. On the negative side, they are likely to be self-righteous, cold, terribly stubborn, slippery, critical of others and not good at social activities!  Which year were you born in?  This week we have lots of Chinese based activities planned and the children will have the opportunity to try Chinese food at snack times.

Sing and play

It’s one of our favourite topics this week – Music.  We will be looking at different types of instruments and music.  The children will have the opportunity to make their own instrument and join our little band.  Do you play an instrument?  Could you bring it in and play it to the children?  If you can please let a member of staff know when you are able to come in.
