Autumn leaves are falling…

Posted by admin on October 15, 2018

This week we are talking about autumn.  We are looking at the environment and talking about how it changes each season.  You can help your child by talking about what you can see when you are out and about.  We already have a fantastic collection of leaves and conkers!  We will be singing the autumn song – perhaps you would like to learn it too, here are the words it is sung to the tune of ‘London Bridge is falling down’

Autumn leaves are falling down, falling down, falling down

Autumn leaves are falling down, red, yellow, orange and brown.

Are you all enjoying these lovely warm days?  Make the most of it as there looks like a storm is brewing for the end of the week.  Which tells us summer is over, and Autumn is on its way.  But then there are only 11 Monday’s left until Christmas… Yes really!!

Bones, bones, and more bones

It was wonderful to see photographs of family members last week, thank you to everyone who sent them in.  It was a lovely opportunity for children to ‘show and tell’ at carpet time; they proudly stood at the front of the class and talked about their family and when and where the pictures were taken.

Settled

Our little ones are getting used to our routine and most are coming into the classroom independently.  Please don’t worry if your child is upset when you leave them, we take good care of them and they are usually settled and playing within minutes of you going!  We will give you a call and let you know they are OK.

It's already week 3!

Our little ones are settling into the Pre-School routine and we are getting to know their little quirks and needs!  This week we will be setting our first target of the term.  When they achieve the task, they will receive a stamp on their hand and a star to put onto our ‘Reason to celebrate’ board.  We will let you know what we decide.

Getting to know you.

It was fantastic to see everyone last week – we had such fun catching up and getting to know our new little ones.  This week we continue to meet and settle in our new children, they are all doing really well.

Welcome to a new academic year!

Have you had a great summer?  How lucky were we with the weather – unless you were unfortunate enough to be away during the week the rain returned!!  But never mind it’s always about making memories.  We can’t wait to hear all about what you have been doing.  We love hearing your child’s news and any photographs to go with it would be appreciated too.  Perhaps you could complete a ‘This week/weekend…’ page available to download from the ‘Parents page’ or you can pick one up in the Pre-School reception.

It’s that sad time of year…

It’s our last week at Pre-School before the summer holiday.  We have got the tissues out as we say a sad farewell to our little ones who are moving onto the next stage of their educational career.  We are so proud of the achievements our children have made during their short time with us.  They have developed so many skills, sharing, building relationships, talking confidently, mark making, having fun… so in the words of Nanny McPhee, our job is done!

Getting ready for school

It’s only two weeks now until we break up for the summer holidays.  It will be a sad time for us as we will be saying cheerio to our children who are moving onto ‘big’ school.  We have been busy meeting their new teachers and writing reports, but we hope their last days with us will be filled with fun.  Next week we are having our teddy bears picnic, watch out for our newsletter giving you the information that you need.

We’re finding out about dinosaurs this week.  Does anyone have any fossils or anything else pre-historic related?  If so we would love to show the children – please speak with a member of our team.
