This week we continue to look at bugs and creepy crawlies. If you go into your garden, why not have a look for the little creatures that live there. We are on the hunt in the Pre-School garden for little beasties – how many will we find?

How are your seeds doing? Have any shoots started to appear? We would love to have an update as they grow and if you have any secret gardening techniques! It would be great if you could send in a picture so that your child can talk about their seed as it develops.

We have a busy week ahead, looking at different types of books and making up stories. We are particularly celebrating British children’s writers including Julia Donaldson, Roald Dahl, Sue Hendra, Judith Kerr, Jill Murphy, AA Milne, Lauren Child, Rev.W.Awdry – to name but a few. Do you have any of their books at home? On Thursday it’s National Book day – have you decided which character to dress up as? The ladies are busy thinking of what they will wear.

What a lovely week we’ve had – did you manage to get away? Don’t forget if you have taken your child somewhere special they have the opportunity at news time to tell us all about it. Just bring in a photograph or something they collected, and we will have a chat with them.

This is our last week of half term, we break up this Friday for a week. We have a busy week ahead finding out all about our senses. We will be hearing, tasting, seeing, smelling and touching lots of different things. Why not do some ‘blind’ testing at home to see if your child can guess correctly what they can smell or taste.

Happy Chinese New Year! It’s the Year of the pig – those people who are born in this year (1923, 1935, 1947, 1959, 1971, 1983, 1995 and 2007) are said to be chivalrous, optimistic and frank, kind and loyal friends and light of heart. Sometimes they can be a little too trusting. Which year were you born in? This week we have lots of Chinese based activities planned and the children will have the opportunity to try Chinese food at snack times.
