That sad time of year again

Posted by admin on July 15, 2019

In the words of that 80’s Europe song - “It’s the final countdown.”  The summer holidays are almost here, and we will soon be saying a sad farewell to our little ones who are moving onto the next stage of their educational career.  We are so proud of the achievements our children have made during their short time with us.  They have developed so many skills, sharing, building relationships, talking confidently, mark making, having fun… so in the words of Nanny McPhee, our job is done!

Getting ready for school

It’s almost time to break up for the summer holidays.  It will be a sad occasion as we will be saying cheerio to our children who are moving onto ‘big’ school.  We have been busy meeting their new teachers and writing reports, but we hope their last days with us will be filled with fun.  Next week we are having our teddy bears picnic, watch out for our newsletter giving you the information that you need.

Last week we had a great time being pirates!  It was great to see everyone dressed up in their pirates’ outfits – we even had a mermaid!

A big thank you to everyone who came to our ‘Open Day’ on Saturday - thankfully the weather was kind to us.  It was great to see so many families, new and old, we hope you enjoyed your time with us. Thank you to those who donated prizes for our tombola and baked for our cake stall, we raised over £170 – which is fantastic.

People who help us - take 2

We had a great start last week to our @People who help us’ theme.  ‘Motorway Martin’ came on Monday with his Police car and Spencer the guide dog brought Kevin in to talk about dogs for the blind.  We have more visits planned this week and we have some teachers coming in from other schools to see the children who are moving on in September.

For the next two weeks we are finding out about ‘People who help us’ the home corner has been changed to the ‘Greenacre Hospital’ and we have a few people visiting us to talk about their jobs.  We still have a few spaces, so if you work in an industry which helps people and have half an hour to spare would you like to come in and talk to our children?  Just speak with a member of staff and let them know.

Welcome back to Pre-School everyone.  We hope you have had a great week off, we can’t wait to hear what you have all been up to.  Did you go away?  We’re talking about transport this week, have you travelled on anything unusual?  We would love it if you any photographs for your child to show at news time.

Are you going on holiday?

What a difference a week makes – our butterflies eventually broke out of their cocoons and were released into the big wide world on Friday. They were a bit hesitant at first, but they eventually flew off into the sun.  The children loved watching them fly away and some were even lucky enough for the butterflies to land on them!

Healthy Eating

Posted by admin on May 13, 2019

Thank you to everyone who came into Pre-School last week wearing the colour of the day.  It was good to talk about the different colours and shades.  This week is healthy eating week, so we will be talking about foods which are healthy and those which we shouldn’t eat too much of.  Also, this week we will be planting cress seeds - each child will have their own little pot so please help them to look after it when they bring it home.

Wear your colours

This week is our colour week.  Each day we will be focusing on a different colour.  If you want to join in, we would love the children to dress in the colour of the day.  Tuesday is yellow, green on Wednesday, Thursday is blue, and Friday is red.
